John Sarris

A second generation Greek & Cypriot American, John Sarris was born in New York City and raised in the Bronx.   Growing up in the Zoodohos Peghe community and graduating from the Greek American Institute provided John a strong connection to his Greek heritage and Orthodox faith.

Following in the footsteps of his mother Despina, and his grandfather John, he continued his service to God and his community at Zoodohos Peghe Church, through service on the Parish Council and various Hellenic and Orthodox organizations, including AHEPA.

John's professional life has taken him to Merrill Lynch and Bank of America as a Financial Solutions Advisor in Myers Park, where he helps his clients meet their financial goals. He is married to Julie Williamson, a pharmacist specializing in infectious diseases, and they have a young son, Michael. They reside in the Dilworth area.

John is passionate about preserving and sharing Hellenic and Orthodox traditions, culture, and values. He believes that these rich heritages are deeply intertwined and that teaching them together is essential for the next generation's understanding and appreciation. It is important to learn Christ’s message of “Love one another” with the word that defines the spirit of Hellenism, “Philotimo!” To this end, John is dedicated to supporting the St. Sophia School and the Charlotte Hellenic Orthodox community's efforts to create a nurturing environment where our youth can experience their roots, learn, grow, and thrive.
